13th July 2007 - It's A Wrap For Kelly

The newly crowned Miss Wales – 23-year-old Kelly Pesticcio from Cardiff – enjoyed her first job in the role this week when she was dressed in a designer gown of pie and pasty wrapping.

The Leicester University medical student – who won the title on Saturday night – was invited by Peter’s Food Service in Bedwas to unveil their new look packaging.

The company has invested £50,000 in the wrapping for its pies, pasties and sausage rolls which sell in their millions across the UK.

For Kelly, the job was a giggle from beginning to end.

She said: “I thought I might get to wear a designer gown as Miss Wales. I suppose I have. There certainly isn’t another one like it.”

David Jackson, Technical and Retail Sales Director at Peter’s Food Service in Bedwas, said: “This is a very important time for us. We’re one of the biggest employers in the valleys of South Wales and we have a hugely loyal Welsh workforce. Who better then, to show off our new look, than Miss Wales herself?”

The dress was made for Peter’s Food Service and Kelly by the award-winning young Welsh fashion designer, Helen Rhiannon Gill from Swansea.
