Peters - Passion for flavour

23rd August 2007 - A Taste Of Caerphilly

Scouts

International scouts were treated to a real taste of Caerphilly this week with Peter’s food service.

The thirty scouts, from Scremska Mitrvica in Serbia, are celebrating 100 years of the scout movement with a once in a lifetime tour of Wales with funds raised by Caerphilly fire service.

As well as visiting Wale’s most famous landmarks including Castle Coch and Cardiff Bay the Scouts sampled their first taste of classic Caerphilly cuisine – the Peter’s pie.

Alexander Kocic, aged 17, said:

“In Serbia we don’t have sausage rolls and pasties so we were quite excited to try Welsh made food. Caerphilly is a beautiful town and we’ve really enjoyed our time here.”

Caerphilly district fire service and the Caerphilly Scouts spent the last year fundraising to allow the Serbian scouts to visit Wales and Peter’s food service donated packed lunches for the duration of their stay.

Steve Logan, Caerphilly fire brigade station manager, said “I visited Serbia earlier this year and was given a fantastic welcome by the Scouts. We wanted to return their hospitality with a tour of Wales and are very grateful to Peter’s Food Service for supplying a taste of Caerphilly.”

David Jackson, Technical & Retail Sales Director for Peter’s Food Service, said:

“We are delighted to work with the Caerphilly scouts and young fire fighters to help deliver real Welsh food to their Serbian guests. We’ve supplied packed lunches of pies, pasties and sausage rolls for everyone to enjoy as they stroll through our country’s famous landmarks.”
