Even those with a good level of fitness will find this challenge extremely demanding.
Peak 1 – Ben Nevis - Scotland
At 1344m Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the UK.
Total ascent is 1370m. Average time to complete the 14.83Km route is 5.5 hours.
Average Winter temperature is –5c. In an average year the summit sees 260 gales and receives 171 inches of rainfall. On average London would see 23.6 inches.
In 1999 there were 41 rescues and four fatalities on the mountain.
Peak 2 – Scafell Pike – England
At 978m (3,209 feet), this is the highest mountain in England.
Average time to complete the 15.4 Km route is 2.5 hours climb, 1.5 hours descent.
Peak 3 – Snowdon
At 1,085m (3,560 feet) above sea level it is the highest mountain in Wales. For comparison it is the same height as Table Mountain in South Africa.
Snowdon has one of the wettest climates in Britain, receiving an annual average of more than 4,500mm (180 inches) of rain.
Average time to complete the 12.2 Km route is 4 hours.
