It’s cool to be ‘square’!
New shape, better bake, same great taste
The people of Wales have decided it’s cool to be ‘square’ as Wales’ favourite savoury pastry maker, Peter’s Pies, improves the shape of its famous range of pasties!
Following research which included 500 customer interviews and sampling events across its south Wales heartland, Bedwas-based Peter’s is changing the shape of their ‘D’ shaped pasty – squaring off the edges of the corned beef, cheese & onion and chicken pasties for a better bake and pastry fill, whilst promising Welsh pasty lovers the same great taste.
From Bridgend to Bedwas, Merthyr to Mountain Ash, over 80% of customers interviewed said ‘down with the D’ as they preferred the squared shape, with 98% confirming their approval by saying they’ll buy the improved pasty.
The new shaped pasties will hit supermarket shelves from early June 2016; speaking about the latest product improvement, Commercial Director of Peter’s, James Osgood said:
“We really love our pastries and we know our customers are passionate about them too so we’ll never stop finding new ways make them even better – and never stop asking them exactly what it is they want – in this case the answer was ‘squarely’ in favour of a change of shape.”
“Feedback has been great – the new shape provides for a better bake and fill in every bite and we’re really looking forward to seeing the new products hit shelves across Wales in the coming weeks.”
